This month I was invited to chat about being a contemporary artist in London with Stan from the Art by Artists YouTube channel.

In this interview about being a contemporary artist in London Stan wanted to know about my background and how I came to be based in London. I originally came here to do my Masters in Fine Art degree at Central Saint Martins. I never saw myself staying in London but once I graduated I decided to give it a go because why not?!

On Being a Contemporary Artist in London

I’ve been London based for eleven years now which seems surreal when I think about it.

I would be lying if I said it’s been an easy ride but if it was easy, everyone would be doing it, right? This is a point Stan asked me to discuss in our interview as I have had challenging times but ultimately I really love what I do and appreciate how I’ve managed to carve out a career as an artist for myself.

I’ve been working full-time as an artist in London for the last number of years but before that, I also worked part-time as a waitress, dog walker, PA, nanny and a host of other service roles to support my art!
