April 2019: A Successful Weekend at Delta Studios for Wandsworth Artists Open House

What an incredible weekend it’s been at Delta Studios as part of the Wandsworth Artists Open House! I’m still buzzing after two days filled with thought-provoking conversations, inspiring interactions, and just the general craic of having the chats!

Taking part in this amazing community event was not just an opportunity to showcase my work—it was a chance to connect with visitors who share a love of artistic expression.

A Celebration of Creativity in Wandsworth

For those who might not be familiar, the Wandsworth Artists Open House is a vibrant annual event where local artists open their doors to the public, inviting them to explore a diverse range of creative works across various mediums. From painting and sculpture to photography and mixed media, the event celebrates artistic talent in Wandsworth and offers visitors a rare chance to meet artists in their own creative spaces- its a very unique experience. 

Delta Studios: My Creative Haven

As I have an art studio at Delta House Studios in south west London, I was exhibiting with them for this event. Delta is a space that has become a hub of creativity and inspiration for me. Seeing my work come alive in this space during the Wandsworth Artists Open House was both rewarding and humbling. Delta Studios provided the perfect atmosphere to engage with visitors, giving them a glimpse into my creative process and the stories behind my pieces.

Thought-Provoking Conversations That Inspired Me

One of the highlights of the weekend was undoubtedly the conversations I had with visitors. I’m grateful for all the thought-provoking chats about my work, where we explored the inspiration behind my pieces, my creative journey, and the themes I aim to convey through my art. It’s fascinating to hear different interpretations of my work.

We talked about everything from the emotional layers embedded in my pieces to the techniques I’ve experimented with over time. Some conversations even sparked new ideas that I’m going to consider more closely. 

Why Wandsworth Artists Open House Matters

Events like the Wandsworth Artists Open House create a bridge between artists and the community, breaking down the barriers that often separate art from everyday life. They give people the chance to not just view art but to engage with it and purchase art if they want to.

For me, being part of this event was about more than showcasing my pieces; it was about fostering connections and encouraging dialogue. These meaningful exchanges reaffirmed the importance of bringing art into public spaces where it can be appreciated and understood on a more personal level.
